For our contemporary arts in Science and Technology Education Center (STEC), we were tasked to present a performance art through a song assigned to us. Different strands and sections were also assigned different songs to interpret and analyze. ABM Maxwell had Thunder by Imagine Dragons, STEM Mendeleev had Shake It Off by Florence + The Machine, and STEM Mendel were assigned Dog Days Are Over by Florence + The Machine.
Dog Days Are Over is a song that possibly covers different issues of the world since Florence + The Machine is band that usually makes songs about abuse, violence and empowerment. STEM Mendel interprets the song as a song about domestic violence and thus, came up with a performance art for its meaning with consideration to the music video's elements of arts and principles of design that were incorporated such as line, color, shapes, and many more.
Our class had also decided to find a unique and contemporary way to present it. We painted our bodies white including even our hairs. We practiced the reversed moves of our dance which was actually very difficult to do. However, the fun we had in putting this dance together outweighs all the stress and exhaustedness we felt during our long practices. Besides, seeing the output of all we did makes all our efforts worth it.
Below is the video of STEM Mendel's Performance Art.
